Double Take: Razzle Dazzle Edition

“Don’t you wanna take my picture?” – Roxie

While we consider ourselves to be a pretty big deal in our own minds (we didn’t pick the names Bonnie and Clyde for nothin’), we thought it might be fun to recreate some more… *ahem* famed couples. So, after tossing some ideas around with our friend Kalli, we decided upon a feature called Double Take. You can expect to see this on the blog from time to time, in which we’ll do our best to bring iconic RL couples to the SL screen. In this feature, we bring you the infamous Roxie Hart and Billy Flynn from the Broadway Musical and Oscar winning silver screen adaptation, Chicago.

Giving Roxie’s original dress a jolt with a burst of crimson was my version of fashion jazz hands. Iris Seale of Punch Drunk, the doll, passed this vintage dress my way and I fell in love with the one shoulder, flapper-esque design with both top and bottom prims, which give this dress a floaty feathery effect.

Since this piece is about icons, the name of this dress should not go unnoticed. Aptly named “Milla”, after Milla Michinaga of MichaMi Style Blog, who has certainly become an SL icon in her own rite. Hi5!

As for hair, Aden’s Tuli (@ Le Zoo) was the perfect choice. So much more than a bob, its wispiness and volume gives it a dose of sex appeal befitting of Ms. Hart.

The satin and fishnet black fitted gloves are like lingerie for the arms, paired with black seamed fishnet stockings and ruby red lips to complete the transformation.

If looks could kill… well, Roxie already did.

His tie, the whole suit… it’s all show business.

Any good Chicago businessman knows 2 things: One, the best contracts tend to be written on the spot; On napkins marked with deep dish pizza sauce of course. Two, a nice suit can open all doors, especially a suit like the one pictured above from Made Men.Β  Never underestimate the impact a handkerchief can have on an ensemble, taking it from water cooler chit chat to hot shot courtroom bravado. Oh, and never just wear a suit like you own it, wear it like you paid a WHOLE lotta money to own it.

Now you’re a step closer to becoming the talk of the town, but make sure that each step is made in the right shoes. Though you can barely see them behind the Chicago skyline, have faith that the Jeepers Creepers black dress shoes with a freshly polished sheen, are a definite wardrobe staple (Click here to see a saddle style version of the shoes). Burst into a spontaneous tap dance in those bad boys and you’re sure to convince any jury of the “truth”.

Read more to see the classic fedora that tops of this interpretation of Billy Flynn, which should have nobody shouting “Objection!”.

Now go paint the town and all that jazz!

P.S. If you have any ideas for who you’d like to see emulated in our next Double Take, leave us a comment and let us know.
